DISCOVERY BAY OLYMPIA
OYSTER SEEDING PROJECT
We are partnering with the Puget Sound Restoration Fund and Tribes to reintroduce the Olympia oyster into appropriate intertidal habitat.

TARBOO/DABOB BAY FISH ASSESSMENT
The MRC partnered with many groups and volunteers to assess two ESA-listed salmon and forage fish.

ANCHOR-FREE EELGRASS PROTECTION
This project protects critical eelgrass habitat from anchor damage by delineating a voluntary "No Anchor Zone."

Jefferson County MRC Members & Partners

• Marine Resources Committees
A network of local, county-based MRCs committed to protecting and conserving the resources of the Northwest Straits in the seven counties bordering the Straits: Clallam, Island, Jefferson, San Juan, Skagit, Snohomish and Whatcom.

• Northwest Straits Marine Conservation Initiative
Since 1999, the NW Straits Marine Conservation Initiative has promoted and supported a local approach to protection and restoration of marine resources and habitats. Grassroots involvement by citizen groups is critical to successfully protect and restore the Straits' salmon, shellfish, bottomfish and other vital resources, plus the habitats they need to survive.
