Forage Fish / Nearshore Information

Description coming soon.

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) has assembled an excellent collection of background information on the biology and distribution of forage fish.

This site includes individual pages for "Herring, Sandlance and Smelt whose special needs along the shoreline are described in the discussion of beach processes that follow.
Searching the MRC online database for citations for "forage fish" yeilds numerous citations, in addition to those linked above. This search tool can be accessed by PC and MAC users equipped with Netscape 4.0 (but not 4.5 or above) or Internet Explorer e online.

The MRC Bibliography can also be explored pre-sorted by subject by users without access to Microsoft's Internet Explorer Web Browser as well, and provides numerous species-specific and resource-specific resources such as reference document lists and agency links.

The Washinton State Department of Natural Resources has a rich site that addresses Nearshore Habitat issues and the Jefferson County MRC has a sorted page of citations and links relevant to nearshore vegetation.
